Jama’at denounces shifting detainees to Haryana jails

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has vehemently denounced the harsh step of shifting twenty three Kashmiri detainees from Kotbalwal and Kathua jails in Jammu to some jail in Haryana.

In  a statement here a Jamaat spokesman said, “Instead of shifting these political detainees from Jammu to the Valley to facilitate their near and dear ones to meet them and expedite their trials authorities have shifted them outside the state. The High Court has long back declared that the shifting of any detainee outside the state is a violation of the rights of detainees.”

   

 He said, “In addition to these detainees, a number of the political leaders including three women leaders of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson  Asiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen and Fahmeeda Sofi are lodged in Tihar Jail Delhi though the case filed against them is based on a FIR basically registered in a police station in Kashmir. “

The spokesman demanded that 23 detainees shifted to Haryana jail should be shifted back to the Valley.
