Jammu and Kashmir: BSF man killed in cross-border firing in Samba

A Border Security Force (BSF) man was killed after the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

An official said that Head Constable Jagpal Singh of A Coy 173 Bn was wounded after Pakistan resorted to firing on Indian posts.

   

Singh, he said, was shifted to District Hospital Samba for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Earlier in the day, three civilians were killed in RS Pura sector in firing and shelling from across the border.

The fresh killings took place a day after a top BSF official said that the situation on the border was “very tense”.

A BSF man and a minor girl were killed in firing from across the border yesterday. Pakistan also said that two of its civilians were killed in “unprovoked” Indian firing.
