The armies of India and Pakistan on Thursday exchanged heavy fire along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
An official said that the Pakistan army resorted to mortarshelling in Qasba Kirni sector of Poonch district today morning.
He said the firing started at 10 am. The Indian army, hesaid, was retaliating effectively.
There was no immediate report of any loss of life on theeither side of the LoC.
