Javaid Mustafa Mir joins Faesal’s party

Former cabinet minister Javaid Mustafa Mir Wednesday joined the newly floated Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Movement led by Shah Faesal.

Mir is the first prominent political figure to join the newparty Faesal launched to “provide an alternative to the existing mainstreamparties”.

   

“It is a historic day for us. A noted personality of thestate is joining JKPM,” Faesal said while welcoming Mir into the party.

Mir, who represented the Chadoora assembly constituency inBudgam district for three successive terms from 2002, resigned from the PDP inJanuary this year.

Mir’s entry into JKPM took political circles in the state bysurprise, even though Kashmir was abuzz with the rumours over the past fewweeks that he might join the new party.

Faesal said that Mir is the man of impeccable integrity andcharacter.

“He has spent 20 years in public life. He has served asminister and MLA. But still no one can raise question on his integrity, characterand honesty,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Mir said, “Our aim in not power.It is necessary to address the problems confronted by the people.”
