A militant was arrested from Kandi area of this district on Wednesday, police said.
It said arms and ammunition was also recovered from thearrested militant.
The arrested militant has been identified as Bashir AhmadBeig of Shumlaran Baramulla. He was affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM)militant outfit, the police said.
While giving details, Senior Superintendent of PoliceBaramulla, Abdul Qayoom said based on intelligence about presence of a militantat Shumlaran, a joint operation to nab him was launched by police, army’s 52RR, 161 TA and 176 CRPF.
“During the cordon and search operation the militant whiletrying to break the cordon, was apprehended by the alert security forces andpolice near Shumlaran Nallah” said the SSP.
He said an AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 40 rounds wererecovered from the possession of the militant.
The police official said the arrested militant was”instrumental in luring two young boys of the area to join militant ranks.”
“The arrested militant has earlier lured two young boys ofthe area who were latter arrested by the police and after due counseling handedover to their parents” said the SSP.
