J&K BJP to take up matter with Governor

The Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu and Kashmir, said on Thursday that while security of forces’ convoys should be ensured, there should be no restriction on movement of civilian vehicles on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

“This decision must not have happened,” BJP generalsecretary (Organisation) Ashok Kaul told Greater Kashmir. “Traffic must not berestricted on the highway.”

   

The senior BJP leader said although securing convoys ofsecurity forces must be a priority, “at the same time common people must notsuffer”.

Kaul said he will take up matter with the governor’sadministration.

“We will request the government to find out ways in whichboth the people and security forces are safe and civilian traffic is notrestricted,” he said.

BJP’s state spokesman Altaf Thakur said they have appealedto the government to revoke the order. He said that Kashmir economy, which is already in a shambles, will facemore shocks because of this decision.

“I am unable to understand where patients, students, governmentemployees and other people will go for two days,” he said. “Have they given anythought to it?”
