J&K govt puts cap on daily online classes after girl’s viral video

Srinagar June 1: A day after a minor girl complained about the “unnecessary burden” of Zoom online classes on children, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday decided to put a cap on the daily online classes from standard 1st up to the higher secondary level.

The six-year-old had put a video addressed to PM Modi asking him “why are little kids assigned class work of the level of higher classes?”

LG Manoj Sinha while calling it a “very adorable complaint”, had instantly reacted to the viral video by directing School Education Department to come out with a policy within 48 hours to “lighten burden of home work on school kids”.

“Childhood innocence is gift of God and their days should be lively, full of joy and bliss,” the LG tweeted yesterday.

In another tweet this evening, the LG tweeted on his official handle that the SED has decided to limit daily online classes for a maximum one and half hours for classes 1-8 spread across two sessions.

For classes 9-12, online synchronous learning will not be more than three hours, the LG ordered.
