J&K Govt to seize JKLF properties, bank accounts

The Government of India has empowered the J&K Government to prohibit the use of spaces and funds by the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front.

In a notification issued the Home Ministry, the stategovernment has been authorized to take action against the organization undersection 7 and 8 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.

   

The notification empowers the government to seize theoffices and other properties of JKLF besides its bank accounts.

While section 7 of the law empowers the government toprohibit the use of funds by an unlawful association, the section 8 defines thepowers to ban the use of locations for holding activities of such anorganization.
