J&K Premier League football |Man behind Kashmir Avengers’ stellar performance

A football club just in its nemesis has taken everybody by surprise, with their spectacular performance in the ongoing J&K Premier League.  Formed just three months back in August, success of team’s success is credited to its coach Shiekh Rizwan—famous footballer of yesteryears from city’s Chattabal locality.

Playing in Group-B, Kashmir Avengers team not only qualified for the second round, but also finished on top of the chart in the group.

   

“It is surprise for many to see this team qualify for the next stage in the league, and to beat tough opponents including J&K PDC, Lone Star and Real Kashmir Reserves,” says a former footballer. 

The club was formed in August 2020 and after taking part in some local tournaments, the team participated in the Premier League, and has shown exemplary performance.

The followers of the game, including some former footballers are crediting the team’s success to team’s  coach Rizwan. “It was surprise  to see him taking up coaching. His (Rizwan’s) strategy and playing tactics have played a major role behind the teams’ success,” remarks another former footballer.

Rizwan, former footballer has played for top notch clubs including J&K Bank FC, but it was in 2004  when he emerged as highest goal scorer in Durand Cup. Besides, he has also played various National level tournaments including Santosh trophy.

Rizwan’s early stint with Iqbal Sports helped him to came into the limelight. Soon he became part of J&K Bank and was considered and one of the key players of J&K.

A qualified AIFF D license coach, Rizwan is channelizing the talent in a way that a three month old football club Kashmir Avengers is making it big.
