JKPM demands release of detained youth

State Executive Member of Jammu and Kashmir’s People Movement, Syed Iqbal Tahir, has condemned what he called the latest “spree of mass arrests” of youth across south Kashmir in the backdrop of killing of militant commander Zakir Musa.

In a statement here Tahir said that innocent peopleespecially youth have been picked up by authorities across different parts ofsouth Kashmir just to create fear psychosis. He demanded their unconditionalrelease immediately.  “Authoritiesshould, instead of resorting to military might, try to win hearts and minds ofthe people of Kashmir. Even minors have been picked up by the police and putbehind the bars. Authorities should read writing on the wall that policy ofcoercion has failed in past and will fail in future also,” Tahi added.
