Scores of journalists on Tuesday staged a sit-in for the second consecutive day at historic clock tower in Lal Chowk here as a mark of protest against the ban on publication of a local English daily, Kashmir Reader.

The journalists assembled at the Press Enclave and held a brief peaceful sit-in.

Later, they took out a rally from Press Enclave to Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar).

The protesting journalists were carrying placards which read 'Withdraw gag on Media', 'Withdraw ban on Kashmir Reader', 'Is Kashmir under martial law?'

The ban order, passed by the District Magistrate of Srinagar, has asked the newspaper to stop publication, citing  that the newspaper's content "contains such material and content which tends to incite acts of violence and disturb public peace and tranquility".
