JRL calls shutdown on Thursday against Shujaat Bukhari killing, civilian deaths

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a complete strike on Thursday in Kashmir against killing of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari and the continuous civilian deaths in the valley.

In a statement, JRL said the civilian killings in the valley have witnessed a sudden spike since Eid as three young boys have been “brutally gunned down by the Indian forces while the fourth (one) is struggling for life at SKIMS”.

“CASO has returned with a vengeance to the villages as people are being severely beaten and harassed and used as human shields,” they said.

“The strike will also be observed against the brutal killing of veteran journalist Shujaat  Bukhari,” said the JRL while demanding an international probe into his gruesome murder.

Earlier, the JRL had called for a shutdown on Wednesday. However, the call was deferred by a day in view of Mela Kheer Bhawani being celebrated at Tulmulla tomorrow, said the JRL.
