Kalwal’s remand extended: JKLF

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday condemned the prolonged incarceration of party zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal.

Kalwal, who is lodged at the police station Kothibagah for the past several days was again presented before court which extended his remand for five more days, Malik said.  Kalwal has again been shifted to police station Kothibagh, Malik said.

While condemning a spree of arrests, nocturnal raids, PSA detention of political activists and other “oppressive tactics” of police, Malik said, “During recent days an ugly upsurge is seen in these undemocratic acts. Police have actually declared a war on peaceful activists and resistance camp and young boys are being pushed to the wall which is actually promoting violence in Kashmir.”

Meanwhile, the JKLF chairman expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of the wife of Tehreek-i- Hurriyat leader Ghulam Mohammad Safi and paid tributes to the departed soul.
