Kargil boys do better than girls in class 12 exam

The J&K board of school education (BOSE) on Thursday declared results of class 12th annual examination in Kargil division with an overall pass percentage of 52.

The J&K board of school education (BOSE) on Thursday declared results of class 12th annual examination in Kargil division with an overall pass percentage of 52.

The boys have scored better pass percentage at 54 percent as compared to 51 percent by the girls.

According to JKBOSE figures around 2371 students had appeared in the examination out of which 1238 have been declared as qualified.

The figures reveal students from 14 government-run higher secondary schools have appeared in examination out of which five schools have produced below 50 percent result. 

Besides, 788 students had appeared as private candidates whose pass percentage is 48, four percent lower than the regular category. 

"Students from two private higher secondary schools had appeared in the exams as regular candidates which recorded 90 percent result," the BOSE figures reveal. 

Only 58 students qualified the exams with distinction while 381 have been awarded first division and 571 students passed the exams with second division. 

"228 students qualified the exams with third division. 1037 students have been declared as reappear and 96 students have failed to pass any of the subjects in class 12th exams," the BOSE figures reveal. 

Ten students have figured as disputed eligibility in the results and 31 were absent. 

Chairperson JKBOSE Veena Pandita congratulated the students who passed the exams.
