Karwan-e-Islami concerned over growing alcoholism

Karwan-e-Islami patron Ghulam Rasool Hami on Sunday expressed concern over growing consumption of alcohol among youth in Kashmir.

In his statement, Hami said: “Kashmir is fast falling prey to the liquor abuse as youth are consuming liquor in a large quantity”.

He said figures suggest that in 2014-2015 in Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal 1150000 bottles were consumed and subsequently in 2016-17, 1529000 bottles of liquor were sold across Kashmir.

Hami said it is time that all of us should leave aside our ideologies and work in unison to root out this drug abuse from society.

He said at some places alcohol is sold without license.
