The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has decided to defer the Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) – 2016 preliminary exams by a couple of weeks.
Earlier, officials said the KAS-2016 preliminary exams would be held from February 19 however the commission has decided to further defer the exams by couple of weeks.
Secretary PSC, Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather confirmed that the KAS-2016 preliminary exams will be deferred to March next year.
"The KAS 2016 preliminary exams will be deferred to second week of March next year. We have selected March 12 and 19 as tentative dates for these exams. We will try to start the exams from March 12," Rather said.
Meanwhile officials said the decision to defer the 2016 preliminary exams after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court dismissed the dismissed the petition challenging the 2014 KAS preliminary exams.
They said JK High Court on December 8, 2016 vacated the stay and dismissed the petition filed to seek fresh preliminary exams of KAS 2014.
Already reported by Greater Kashmir, JK High Court on October 28 had stayed Mains examination of KAS)-2014 after some candidates approached it with a plea that some questions in different paper series of preliminary exams were provided wrong answer key.
Meanwhile, JKPSC has already notified dates for candidates who have applied for the JK Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, 2014.
The dates for Mains (KAS 2014) exams have been scheduled from February 11 to 28.
