While reiterating that her government was committed to their "honourable" return, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said that Kashmiri Pandits were a part of the state, like other communities.
"We are committed to the honourable return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley with dignity. Kashmir belongs to them as much as it does to any other community. They are an enduring symbol of J&K's composite culture and syncretic identity," said Mehbooba, in a tweet.
She said that reconciliation between all groups and communities was key to peace in the state.
"Today I seek a sustained process of reconciliation between all groups & communities in J&K. In their Peace lies the future of peace in J&K," she said.
