Kashmir University suspends administrative, academic activities till March 28 over Covid-19 outbreak

Srinagar, March 18: Kashmir University (KU) has suspendedall academic and administrative activities across  all its campuses till March 28 in view ofCovid-19 outbreak.

Also, the University administration has postponed all theinterviews scheduled up to March 31. “New dates will be notified laterseparately,” reads the order issued by Registrar KU, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir.

   

The decision has been taken in view of Novel Coronavirus(COVID-19) scare and the advisories issued by government agencies, he said.

The varsity administration has postponed all M.Phil, Ph.Dviva voce examinations scheduled till March 31. “Wherever postponement ofM.Phil, Ph.D viva voce examination is unavoidable, same may be conductedthrough Skype and no outside expert be invited to University upto March31,” the order reads.

However, as per the order, the employees associated withessential services like electricity, water works, sanitation and hygiene,landscape maintenance, health centre and proctoral watch and ward  wing have been asked to continue to report totheir duties.

“In view of the closure of the financial year 2019-20the employees associated with the finance and account wing  including officers of the Dean Research ofthe University shall also continue to report to their duties,” the orderreads.

The order reads that all employees will ensure that they areaccessible through their mobile phones and shall provide home  inputs/ report to their duties as and whencalled for.

The distance mode annual examination of Maulana AzadNational Urdu University (MANUU) scheduled from March 19 in Jammu and Srinagarregion are postponed till further orders, the controller examinations said in acircular.
