Muslim League (ML) Jammu Kashmir, headed by incarcerated senior leader Masarat Alam Bhat and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (R) on Wednesday condemned alleged 'ill-treatment' being meted out Kashmiri political prisoners at Kotbalwal Jail, Jammu.

"ML expresses concern over the deteriorating health condition of Kashmiri prisoners in Kotbhalwal Jail. These prisoners are being ill-treated and subjected to mental and physical torture there," ML general secretary Rafiq Ganai said  in a statement.

He said, "The food and drinking water supplied to the inmates are also unhygienic and below standard as result many prisoners are suffering from various health issues and sick inmates are left to battle for their life as no proper medical care is provided to them."

"Because of the ill treatment meted out to them by the jail authorities, they are so frightened that they do not even narrate their woes," Ganai said, appealing to the United Nations , Red Cross,  OIC , Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to come to the 'rescue' of these detainees.

Meanwhile, JKLF ( R ) chief patron Barrister Abdul Majid Trumbo has also expressed serious concern over the plight of Kashmiri political detainees lodged at Tihar Jail.

"The administration and Tihar jail authorities  are subjecting the  Kashmiri prisoners to political vengeance and physical torture. They are being meted out ill-treatment and denied proper medical treatment," Trumboo said in a statement and termed it as "a gross violation of national and International laws."
