Kashmiri students attacked in outside college

Kashmiri students on Saturday blocked Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway at Mohali after one of their classmates was assaulted by unknown persons inside a college at Mohalli in Punjab, a local news agency CNS reported.

It said that over 200 Kashmiri students after registering a protest in the premises of Adesh Institute of Technology and Management in Mohalli, hit the streets  demanding action against the assailants who attacked a newly Kashmiri entrant inside the college.

   

A protesting Kashmiri student said that Masroor Ahmed, of Adigam Kokernag got admission in the college a few days ago. “Yesterday, when Masroor, 1st Semester student of BBA came out from hostel to fetch drinking water, he was attacked by unknown youth with knives. Masroor has received multiple injuries in his chest, head and arms,” he said.

The student added that police recorded the statement of Masroor Ahmed at Sarswati Hospital but didn’t register any FIR as college administration wants to hush up the matter.

The victim in his statement to police has said that one of the assailants was wearing a red turban. A police official when contacted said that they are investigating the matter; however, protesting students said that neither college faculty nor police arrived on the spot of protest. “It’s raining cats and dogs and yet we are protesting seeking arrest of assailants,” said the student.

When contacted, an official from Adesh Institute of Technology and Management said that though the victim is stable, yet they have requested police to conduct a thorough probe into the matter and arrest the assailants.
