KCSDS condemns assault on Talib Hussain
The Kashmir Centre for Social and Developmental Studies (KCSDS) on Thursday said that it's aghast over the reports of alleged torture in police custody of Talib Hussain, who spearheaded the campaign to seek justice in Kathua gang rape and murder case of an eight –year old child.
In a statement here a spokesperson of KCSDS said, "Relatives of Talib have filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging that he has been targeted for championing the cause of nomad community and received life –threatening injuries due to torture during custody."
He said that KCSDS condemns the "assault" at a whistle blower by rogue elements for "hushing up" the rape and murder case of a minor. "The cases filed against Talib are fabricated and it was feared from the very beginning that he will be targeted in one way or the other for diluting the Kathua case as he is a key witness. It is the duty of the government to protect him," the spokesperson added.
