KU fails to declare SET results

Despite passing of more than three months Kashmir University has failed to declare the results of State Eligibility Test (SET) held on March 11.

The inordinate delay has left candidates aghast as they say they are not able to apply for jobs or further studies.

“We are suffering. We are not able to apply for any job or Post Doctorate admissions as the eligibility criteria is based on SET qualification,” said Samreen, a candidate awaiting her SET result.

Another candidate Saquib Khan said: “They are playing with our future… We lost so many opportunities because of delay in our SET result”.

Pertinently, KU had uploaded ‘flawed’ answer key of SET on March 18 which raised many eyebrows over varsity’s conduct of examinations. According to the candidates more than 80 percent of answers given in the key were “wrong”.

Later, KU was forced to issue statement saying: it was not “involved either directly or indirectly in setting the question papers or framing of keys”, while revised key was also uploaded by the University in the last week of May.

Another aggrieved candidate wishing not to be named said: “If UGC declared National Eligibility Test (NET) held on same pattern result within 45 days, why can’t KU declare SET results?”

Dean Academic Affairs KU Musadiq Suhaaf said SET result has been declared due to delayed visit of UGC team’s campus visit.

“We had asked the team to visit the campus for declaration of SET result but they choose to come as per their own convenience,” he said, adding that UGC team’s campus visit is mandatory for declaration of SET result.

“They have conveyed that they will come in July,” he added.
