KU pulls up colleges for engaging contractual staff to evaluate answer scripts

The authorities at Kashmir University (KU) have pulled up the evaluation staff of the degree colleges for hiring contractual staff to evaluate the answer scripts of the undergraduate students of the colleges.

In a circular issued to the college principals on Monday, the controller examination KU, Prof Farooq Ahmad Mir has termed the engagement of contractual staff for the purpose as violation of service rules.

   

“It has been reported that some of the paper evaluators do not evaluate the answer scripts on their own and assign the job to the contractual staff which amounts to serious misconduct and violation of service rules,” the circular reads.

The circular comes two month after the KU authorities declared “flawed” result of the undergraduate students of colleges wherein more than 400 students were declared not qualified. But, the Xerox of the answer sheets exposed the “carelessness” of the evaluators.

Meanwhile, the controller examination has instructed the principals of the colleges, associated with the evaluation process to direct the permanent faculty members to evaluate the answer scripts personally.

“The principals of colleges associated with the evaluation of the answer scripts of our university are requested to impress their colleagues to evaluate the answer scripts not to engage any other person unauthorisedly,” the circular reads.

The circular has been issued in a bid to streamline the examination system of the university.

 “Any dereliction by these evaluators will invite administrative action and will be taken up with department of higher education department,” the circular reads.
