Srinagar, Nov 12: Another militant was killed in a gunfight that broke out yesterday evening in Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, taking the number of militants killed in the firefight to two, police said today.
A police spokesman said that the gunfight broke out yesterday evening after the police and security forces launched a search operation in Chawalgam following inputs about the presence of militants there.
While a militant was killed in the initial exchange of fire, another militant was killed today morning.”01 more unidentified terrorist killed (Total 02). #Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” the spokesman said on Twitter.

He identified the slain as Shiraz Molvi and Yawar Bhat. Molvi, he said, was the district commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
“Killed terrorists identified as District commander of HM Shiraz Molvi & Yawar Bhat. Shiraz was active since 2016 & was involved in #recruiting innocent youth into terror ranks & several civilian #killings. A big success for us,” he said while quoting IGP Kashmir.
