Kulgam villages await replacement of worn-out water pipes

People in dozens of Kulgam villages are facing a water crisis though the water schemes are functional.

The reason is that the old worn-out water supply pipes are not being replaced.

The villagers rue that the water continues to be supplied to them through these pipes.

“We have been waiting for the new pipes for quite some time now but to no avail,” said Ghulam Muhammad of Zangalpora village.

He said that as the pipes were too narrow and the population had increased, they often face water shortages.

People in several other villages including Supar, Srandoo, Tulinowpora, Bagbal, Batipora, Malik Mohalla, and KhuriBatpora also complained of facing a water crisis due to worn-out water supply pipes.

“We appeal to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) officials to connect the new pipes at the earliest,” locals said.
