Kupwara Admin arranges helicopter service for Karnah, 22 persons airlifted

Kupwara, Feb 2: District administration Kupwara Friday evacuated 5 patients including three minors and their attendants from snow-bound Karnah Sub Division to Kupwara. The patients needed advanced treatment, following which a helicopter service was arranged by the district administration much to the delight of those in need.

A total of ten passengers who were stranded in Kupwara due to blockade of Chowkibal – Karnah road were also airlifted from District Police Lines (DPL), Kupwara in subsidised helicopter service.

   

Pertinently, the Chowkibal – Karnah road remained closed for three consecutive days due to which people, especially patients were subjected to severe hardships and the helicopter service came as major relief for them.

Meanwhile district administration in a press statement said, “Much to the delight of the stranded passengers and patients of snow bound Karnah sub division, the District Administration Kupwara today arranged helicopter service for them. As many as 12 persons were airlifted from Tangdhar to Kupwara, including 5 patients, who were in need of advanced treatment, in two air sorties during the day. Likewise, 10 Karnah bound stranded passengers were airlifted from District Police Lines (DPL), Kupwara today in subsidised helicopter service,”.

“Nodal Officer Heli Service Mudasir Sikander, monitored the helicopter service facility at DPL Helipad Kupwara. The timely requisition of heli service by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan and UT administration’s co-operation has garnered widespread appreciation and gratitude from the people of Karnah. This initiative underscores the commitment of the civil administration to ensure essential healthcare and other essential services reach even to the remotest areas, close to the line of control, saving lives of patients and fostering community solidarity,” reads the statement.

“Notably, the people especially patients had to face many hardships during closure of Chowkibal- Tangdar road and in the adverse weather conditions the helicopter service has come as a major relief for the people,” the statement reads further.
