Srinagar, June 14: A labourer died and two others were hospitalized unconscious while digging a borewell in Khiram area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, police said.
An official from Police Station Srigufwara in the jurisdiction of which the mishap took place, told Greater Kashmir that the trio accidentally fell into the borewell while fitting the main supply pipe into it.
He identified the trio as Sabzar Ahmad Lone and Shahid Ahmad Lone, sons of Abdul Rahman Lone, and Muzaffar Ahmad Lone, son of Sanaullah Lone, all residents of Durpora Khiram.
While Sabzar died on way to hospital, his brother Shahid and Muzaffar have been admitted at a hospital at Janglat Mandi Anantnag in an unconscious condition.
Asked about the cause of the accident, the official at Police Station Srigufwara said that the trio might have slipped into the borewell and suffered asphyxiation in the depth.
The official ruled out any “collapsing” of the wall of the borewell as the cause of the mishap.
