Srinagar June 14: Wildlife officials captured a leopard on the loose in Wuyen Khrew area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district Monday night, authorities said.

Chief Wildlife Warden Kashmir, Rashid Naqash confirmed to Greater Kashmir that the big cat had been captured in the area by the rescue team a short while ago.

After the team established the presence of the animal in the area, a trap was laid to catch it, the officer said.

Once the leopard got inside, it was tranquilized to facilitate a safe handling and its release into a secure location both for the animal as well as the human population.

Naqash further informed that it was the third leopard to be caught in the same habitation in the last week.
