LoC heats up in Kupwara, BSF man succumbs

An official of Border Security Force on Wednesday said that Pakistan army resorted to heavy mortar shelling at five forward posts of Border Security Force at Karnah in Kupwara district.

“Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked firing and indiscriminate mortar shelling targeting Bukhari post, Ragni post, Kana post, Toly post and other posts close to Line of Control,” a BSF officer told Greater Kashmir. 

   

He said, “Our side is also retaliating effectively.”

The officer said that no loss of life was reported till late in the evening and firing was on when this report was filed.    

Meanwhile, a BSF personnel who had sustained critical injuries in a sniper fire  from Pakistan army on a forward defence line post in Tangdhar sector on Tuesday evening succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar hospital.

The slain BSF constable was identified as SK Marmu of Langritar, Khairia, district in Bihar.
