Locals accuse PHE of supplying ‘unclean’ water in Bandipora village

The residents of Vijpora hamlet in Bandipora district have accused Public Health Engineering (PHE) of supplying unclean drinking water to their village.

According to the locals PHE is not maintaining mandatory cleanliness of the local filtration plant which supplies water to several adjacent localities in the Sonawari belt of the district.

   

The locals accused PHE of putting human lives at risk by not maintaining cleanliness of the filtration plant.

“Had PHE been interested in saving lives of people they would have taken cleanliness of the plant on emergency basis,” said a local Bilal Ahmad.

Locals also claimed that many residents have been hospitalized after drinking “contaminated” water.

Executive engineer PHE Sumbal division Muneer Ahmad Kantroo didn’t respond to repeated phone calls from this reporter.
