Lok Sabha polls: Kashmir shuts, mobile Internet suspended

A complete shutdown is being observed on Thursday across the Kashmir valley in wake of second phase of Lok Sabha polls.

All the business establishments remained closed in Srinagarwhile traffic was off the roads. Heavy deployment of the police and paramilitaryforces has been made at all the sensitive places across the Srinagar-Budgamparliamentary constituency seat which is going to polls today.

   

Twelve candidates are in fray for the Srinagar-Budgamparliamentary constituency seat.

Reports of shutdown were also received from other districtheadquarters of the valley.

Joint Resistance Leadership –an amalgam of separatist bodies– has called for shutdown today.

Authorities suspended the mobile Internet service in centraland south Kashmir last night.
