The Returning Officer for Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Wednesday rejected one nomination paper leaving 12 contestants in fray in the after scrutiny of nomination papers.
The nomination paper of Abid Hussain Ansari of Jammu andKashmir Peoples Conference was rejected.
The candidates left in the fray now include Dr FarooqAbdullah of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Sheikh Khalid Jehangir ofBharatiya Janata Party, Nazir Ahmad Lone of Rashtriya Jankranti Party, IrfanRaza Ansari of J&K Peoples Conference, Abdul Rashid Ganie of J&KNational Panthers Party, Abdul Khaliq Bhat of Shiv Sena, Aga Syed Mohsin ofJ&K Peoples Democratic Party, Nazir Ahmad Sofi of Manavadikar NationalParty, Showkat Hussain Khan of Janta Dal United, and Abdul Rashid Banday, BilalSultan and Sajad Ahmad Dar, all independents.
The last date of withdrawal of candidature is March 29 up to3 PM. The polling would be held on April 18, 2019. The voting hours have beenfixed from 7AM to 6 PM.
