Lt Gen Sharma takes over as Chief of Staff, Northern Command

Lieutenant General S K Sharma took over as the Chief of Staff, Northern Command, at Udhampur on Monday. He replaced Lieutenant General J S Nain who would be taking over a Corps shortly.

Lieutenant General S K Sharma was commissioned in the Rajputana Rifles on 17 December 1983 and has commanded 11th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles, an Infantry Brigade along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and an Infantry Division in Jammu.

   

He has also held staff and instructional appointments including Military Observer tenure at United Nations Mission in Liberia, said an official.

He has also served as an instructor at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and has had tenures in Military Operations and Intelligence Branches at Army Headquarters.

Prior to taking over as the Chief of Staff, Headquarter Northern Command, he was tenanting the appointment of Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps.

The General Officer is also a recipient of Yudh Seva Medal for his distinguished service during operations and dedication to the organisation, said the official.
