A statement of the NC issued here said that NC MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone and HasnainMasoodi asked the Lieutenant Governor ManojSinha’s administration to focus on stocking essentials in bulk ahead of the coming harsh winter months and ensuing hassle-free commute on the only surface link that connects Kashmir with rest of the country.

The duo demanded that a holistic review of all the stocks of essentials like rice, sugar, kerosene oil, LPG, and wheat should be undertaken and any shortfall plugged before the onset of sub-zero temperatures.

The NC MPs asked the government to direct road clearance departments and wings that include SMC and R&B to remain on stand-by mode to meet any situation that might arise due to early snowfall.

They also called for having electricity transformer repair units at district levels.

The NC MPs also sought transformer banks at each district level to meet the demand of replacing damaged ones with new ones.

“Concerned repair centres should be directed to ensure replacement of damaged transformers with new ones within 9 hours,” they said.

The NC MPs impressed on the administration to lay emphasis on ensuring uninterrupted road connectivity and proper traffic management.

“Zone-wise snow clearance should be ensured and required men and machinery should be pooled at such zones across Kashmir division,” they said.
