The former militant turned businessman Riyaz Ahmed Dar alias Majaz Kashmiri of Duderhama Ganderbal passed away here on Monday.

Riyaz Dar, 49, died minutes after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence at Dhoke Kashmirian in Rawalpindi this afternoon. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for the first aid where doctors declared him brought dead.

Dar, the top rank commander of the militant outfit Janabaz Force had got settled in Rawalpindi after getting married in 2001. He is survived by his wife and four children. The deceased was son in law of senior JKLF leader Ghulam Ahmed Bhat.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of the deceased were offered here this evening. Large number of Kashmiris settled in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, leaders of Hurriyat Conference, members of traders' community and leaders of the United Jihad Council attended his funeral. Later the deceased was laid to eternal rest at a local grave yard at Dhoke Kashmirian Rawalpindi.
