Man held with illicit timber in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal: Police

Police on Tuesday claimed to have held a timber smuggler along with a large quantity of illicit timber in Hilpati area of Gund Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. 

The accused identified as Riyaz Ahmad Bajran, son of Mohammad Rafiq Bajran, a resident of village Hilpati Haknar Gund was arrested following reports of smuggling in the area by a team of Police Station Gund led by SHO Lateef Ali under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan, Syed Yasir Qadri, a police statement said.

   

It further said a large quantity of illegally cut timber from the accused was recovered following which Case FIR No. 11/2021 U/S 379 IPC, 26 IF ACT was been registered at Police Station Gund and further investigation has been set into motion.

This is second time in the instant month that Ganderbal Police has registered cases and recovered illicit timber in the district.
