Srinagar, June 2: A man under custody of security forces snatched rifle of a cop and fired at him leaving him injured inside SOG camp in Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
The man has hid himself in the generator room of the camp while police is persuading him to surrender.
Quoting a police official, news agency KNO reported the man was picked up by police for questioning, however, today he snatched a rifle from the cop and shot him.
The official said that the man is hiding in the generator room of SOG camp while the police was persuading him to surrender.
“SSP Awantipora is trying to make him surrender and there is no hostage situation as there were no other policemen inside the room, ” added the police official.
News agency GNS identified the injured cop as Amjid Ahmad.
