Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) general secretary Muhammad Maqbool Bhat has condemned the re-arrest of Dukhtaran- e- Millat (DeM) chairperson Syeda Asiya Andrabi after the High Court quashed her detention under PSA.
"Even after the quashing of her detention under public safety act (PSA) she was rearrested," Bhat, in a statement today, said.
Bhat said, " Aasiya's brother went to Kupwara jail in the morning and handed over court orders to the jail authorities. Jail authorities made him wait for three hours and later informed him that she would be released in Srinagar. She was handed over to a large posse of police who took her to Rambagh Police Station here. When her brother reached Rambagh police station he was informed that Asiya has been booked again."
"If Asiya was to be booked again why was she made to travel from Kupwara to Srinagar when she was very ill. Her blood pressure has increased very much. In Rambagh police station, there are no heating facilities thus her well-being has been put to jeopardy," Bhat said, adding that "If anything untoward happens to the health to Asiya, New Delhi and the state government shall be responsible."
