MDTAG holds maiden meet

‘Multi Disciplinary Terror Action Group’ (MDTAG) constituted by Ministry of Home Affairs for Jammu and Kashmir in March this year, held its maiden meeting here last week, a source told Greater Kashmir on Thursday. 

He said the meeting was chaired by Additional Director Generalof Police (ADGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and was attended bythe officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence Bureau, Central Bureauof Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Income Taxdepartment.

   

The source said that “financing of militancy and separatism”was discussed threadbare during the meeting. “The top officers revealed thatoperational activities of militant groups, including attacks on securityforces, camps and convoys, are being financed, and huge money is being spent tomotivate and recruit youth into militant groups,” the source added.

He said all the police stations in J&K have been askedto expedite investigations into the “cases registered in funding ofsecessionism in the state.”

The MDTAG has been tasked to take action against “hardcoremilitant sympathizers,” including government employees, the source added.

The group has been authorized to take coordinated action inall cases that relate to militant funding and identify all key persons,including leaders of the organisation(s), who are involved in supportingmilitancy and separatism in any form.
