Mehbooba Mufti’s uncle Sartaj Madni released from detention

Srinagar: Close on the heels of centre’s invitation to mainstream leaders, the government here released Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Sartaj Madni .

A senior police officer confirmed to news agency GNS that Madni, who is the maternal uncle of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, was released.

   

Madni was detained from his residence in Anantnag a day after the August 5,2019 decisions of the Central government.

Later, he was moved to SKICC Srinagar and placed under detention with other leaders who are now being invited for talks.

Subsequently, Madni, former Deputy Speaker in the erstwhile Legislative Assembly, was detained under section 107 and 151 of CrPC.

In February 5 last year, Madni was shifted from the SKICC to a government guest house at Gupkar.
