Vice president of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has expressed serious concern over the continued arrest spree of Kashmiri youth.

"Arresting innocent people and booking them under the notorious public safety act (PSA) was a gross violation of basic human rights," Saghar said in a statement.

"Those beating the drums of democracy have waged a war against the people of Kashmir. On one hand authorities were seen mourning over much-hyped loss to education while on the other youth and school going children were being targeted and sent behind the bars under one pretext or the other. The people shedding crocodile tears and mourning over the educational losses in Kashmir today are the same power-hungry political-hacks who didn't utter a single word when hundreds of youth including school going children were blinded by showering bullets and pellets intentionally on them", Saghar said.

"During the current phase of uprising youth have been the worst victim of state violence. They are being persecuted killed and maimed, tortured, censored and humiliated", he added.
