Mian Altaf for deescalating LoC tension

Urging India and Pakistan to de-escalate the tension alongthe LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, senior National Conference leader and former MLAKangan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, said that both the governments should take measure toensure peace in the interest of the people.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, he expressed shock and anguishover the prevailing situation along the Line Of Control (LoC). The formerlegislator said that it is the people of J&K, particularly those livingalong the LoC or the international border, who face the brunt of skirmishesbetween the two countries.

   

Mian Altaf urged the governments of India and Pakistan totake urgent measures to deescalate the situation and bring an end to themiseries of the hapless people.

Mian Altaf urged the leadership of the two countries to endhostilities and prevent further loss of innocent lives on the borders.

“We have seen such situation in the past, be it in Rajouri,Poonch or other areas along the LoC or the international border, where manycivilian lives have been lost and huge population affected. Now it must stop,”he said.

He expressed grief over the killing of three members of afamily in the cross LoC firing in Jhullas area of Poonch district.

Mian Altaf condemned the incidents of heavy shelling alongthe LoC particularly in Poonch and Rajouri areas.

Belying the claims of the central and the state governmentsthat necessary steps like construction of underground bunkers, shifting ofaffected people to safer places, have been taken, he said they have done “quitelittle” for the affected people.

He demanded immediate relief to the affected people and urged the government to act immediately and move them to safer areas to prevent human loss.
