Miffed by the alleged callous attitude of district administration Pulwama, the local residents have started to clean springs and streams in different villages of this South Kashmir district as part of citizen initiative.
Shahoora area including the villages of Tumlahal, Tahab,Trichal, Naira are gifted with natural springs and streams. The locals saidthat despite several schemes launched by the government to clean the waterbodies, the district administration has not implemented those in the district.
Locals in Tumlahal village on the initiative of Hamid UllahHamid, president Mehfil Bahar-e-Adab Shahoora, started a cleanliness drive onThursday.
Large quantity of polythene, garbage and other trash wasremoved and disposed of properly from these natural streams and springs.
Locals while pitching for the securing and safeguarding of these natural waterbodies said BDO Lassipra and Pulwama should come forward and take the initiative forward at the administration level.
