Militant killings: JKLF Chief Yasin Malik arrested in Srinagar

Police on Monday arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik from his Maisuma residence.

“Yasin Sahab was arrested from his home this morning and was lodged at Kothi Bagh police station,” said a JKLF spokesperson.

The arrest has come in the aftermath of the killing of three militants in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district this morning.

Meanwhile, senior front leader Noor Muhammad Kalwal was arrested when he tried to meet Malik at the police station, the spokesperson added.

Authorities fear that the pro-freedom leadership would lead protests rallies in summer capital.

Three militants, including Easa Fazili of Soura area of Srinagar, were killed in a gunfight in Hakoora area of Anantnag district earlier today.
