Militants abducted a policeman from his native village in Shopian district on late Thursday evening.

A police official said that two to three militants abducted a policeman near his residence in Vehil village of Shopian around 9: 30 pm.

The policeman identified as Javid Ahmad Dar was taken to an unknown destination, the official said.

It is the third incident over past more than a month in south Kashmir.

On June 14, militants abducted an army man, Aurangzeb from Kalampora village of Pulwama. His bullet perforated body was later recovered from Gusoo village of the district.

In another similar incident militants, on the same day, abducted a police man serving as Munshi with SOG camp Pulwama from his residence in Navpora, Lassipora. He, however, was,  released on the next day.
