Militants and government forces on Wednesday evening exchanged fire at Badrapayeen village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A police official said that militants fired indiscriminatelyupon a patrolling party of Army’s 32 RR. “The army retaliated. A cordon andsearch operation has been launched in the area,” said the official, adding theforces had information about presence of militants in the area.
Another official said reinforcement has been rushed to thearea and lights have been installed to prevent the militants from escaping,”The exchange of fire continued for few minutes. The entire area has beencordoned off,” the official added. GKNN
