
Government forces and militants exchanged brief gunfire in Bandiora district on late Saturday evening.
A police official said, "Militants fired upon patrolling party of 14-RR near Panar village. The fire was retaliated triggering a brief gunfight."
A source said that soon after the attack forces cordoned off Panar village and launched searches to track the militants.
Another police officer told Greater Kashmir that army's 14 RR cordoned off Raynar forest area in Panar village this evening following the suspicious movement.
Army's Srinagar based spokesman colonel Rajesh Kalia said, "We are investigating and collecting the information of the incident. I will let you know accordingly."
