Militants, security forces exchange fire in south Kashmir’s Khanabal

Militants and security forces exchanged fire in Matipur village of Khanabal area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday morning, army said.

The Northern Command of the Indian Army tweeted that a “speculative search operation” was launched in the area, some 5 kilometres from Khanabal town followed by a round of fire by the troops at 1100 hours.

The suspected militants fired back at 115 hrs, army said.
