Mirwaiz, Omar concerned over killings of Kashmiris

Irrespective of separate political ideologies, Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and former chief minister Omar Abdullah voiced their concern over killings of Kashmiris during gunfights in south Kashmir on Sunday.

Mirwaiz took to his twitter handle to react to killings of militants and civilians in separate gunfights in Shopian district. “In south Kashmir, Indian forces once again resorted to bloodbath killing 17 youth, 12 among them belonging to Shopian district. For how long Kashmiris will be one by one killed for demanding their right to self-determination and international community will continue to maintain silence over it,” Mirwaiz wrote on his twitter handle in Urdu.

In his earlier tweet in morning, Mirwaiz wrote on his twitter handle, “as long as Govt of India address the political and humanitarian problem of Kashmir militarily and through force Kashmiri will continue to die or be forced to pick up arms for resistance and the onus for this and its repercussions is completely on them.”

Twitter-savy Omar Abdullah also voiced his concern on his twitter handle. “Of the 12 confirmed dead I understand 11 are local Kashmiris & the identity of the 12th is being ascertained, not one so far is a foreign terrorist. Is no one in a position of power in Delhi alarmed by this because I certainly am!” Omar wrote.
