Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir leads Milad procession
Mirwaiz of South Kashmir and Chairman of Ummat-e Islami Jammu Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed Yasir, today led a Milad procession in Anantnag district here.
In a statement, spokesperson of Ummat-e Islami said, "the local police, however, had been continuously warning Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir not to take out the march." "They raided the house last night but had to return as Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir had already gone to some undisclosed location and appeared in the Jamia Masjid early morning. In morning, as paramilitary forces and policemen were deployed in the town, a party of police officials entered the mosque compound and exchanged heated arguments with people. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir, defying all warnings, announced that the march would be taken out despite any restrictions," the statement said.
"Thousands of people gathered and some joined on way taking a route of around 12 kilometers that passes through several areas in and around Islamabad town.
Everyone in Kashmir is a pro-freedom and we have all given sacrifices but nothing should pitch us against each other," he said.
Raising slogans in praise of Prophet (SAW) and the freedom of Kashmir, Mirwaiz said, "we should show unity and it should be our pride."
Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir also paid rich tributes to political prisoners saying "they are continuously sacrificing precious days of their life."
He highlighted the role of leaders like Shabir Shah, Yasin Malik, Moulana Sarjan Barkati and Moulana Sajad Hashmi and many others who played a major role in the recent uprising.
